Drunkard man forces Goa-Delhi flight to land at Indira Gandhi Int. Airport

New Delhi, Feb. 1 : An Indigo E 664 Goa-Delhi flight had to make a priority landing on Sunday evening after an inebriated passenger created a major scene on board after getting into a tiff with a flight staff.

The passenger was reportedly demanding to be served liquor, which was refused by the in flight staff citing rules that do not allow anyone even to carry any alcohol in luggage.

But the argument led to fracas with the staff and some passengers, following which the pilot asked the drunken man to behave which the latter refused and threatened the staff.

Sensing the person going out of control, just when he threatened to hijack, the pilot opted to send a distress call to the ATC seeking permission for a priority landing.

The plane was brought down at the Indira Gandhi International Airport and taken to an isolated place away from both the runways. The individual was detained and was being questioned till 7.30 in the evening.

Other flight operations were brought to normal, though some of the flights were delayed for a short time.
The security of the planes at the airport is handled by the CISF (Central Industrial Security Force).

But, the National Security Guards (NSG ) and Delhi Polices quick response team were called on the Airport.
However, the Indigo Airlines has maintained that all the passengers on board are safe.
